About School No. 19

Mission:  At Dr. Charles T. Lunsford School No. 19, we believe a Pre-K through 6th grade school lays the foundation for future academic success and that children flourish in a nurturing and safe environment. At School No. 19, every child contributes to his or her own education and the learning experience of others. Our delivery of instruction encourages students to be risk takers, free thinkers, team players, and active participants in the community. The staff makes a positive difference in the life and development of every child. We believe that together we can foster a school climate where staff and students celebrate learning, growing, and the feeling of family.

Recognized by New York State as one of its Most Rapidly Improving Schools in 2006–2007, School No. 19 continues to provide students with enriching educational experiences both inside and outside the classroom. Students benefit from quarterly award assemblies that celebrate achievement, a supportive Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) that enhances extracurricular opportunities, and classroom Chromebook carts that seamlessly integrate technology into daily instruction. Our signature Arts for All initiative embeds the arts throughout the curriculum, while Strings for Success offers a free, inclusive instrumental strings program that nurtures creativity and musical talent. Connected to the Flint Street Recreation Center, students also have access to quality after-school programming. Together with our many community partnerships, these opportunities support the academic, social, emotional, and artistic growth of every student.
